The Birth of Èrainn
Linguistic scholar in Abbot Clement's retinue
Berengar was raised by priests in a small abbey dedicated to Saint Christopher located at the crossroads outside of Main Noire. He grew to an exceptional size for a half-elf and spent many of his younger years as a porter for a diplomatic expedition that traveled through large portions of Europe, Northern Africa and Asia. Upon returning to his home, he decided to devote his life to Saint Christopher, the patron saint of travelers, who had kept him safe during all of his journeys. Once he was fully ordained, he became an itinerant monk and spent many years wandering the European countryside aiding those on the road and remote villages in need. He returned to Rome by order of papal summons and was selected as a member of the retinue of Abbot Clement for his linguistic skills. He has already proven his worth by discovering that the Tribes of the Blood speak an antiquated dialect of the Elven language. Although many dangers surfaced during the trip to the colony, Berengar continues to eschew weapons and armor stating that his faith gives him protection and strength when the need arises.
